About Joko Edu
At Joko Edu, we believe everyone has a great story to share and that is why we make beautiful vegan leather notebooks to help you do just that.
Our notebooks are locally made using the finest materials and we offer a variety of options including our plain journals, undated planners, journals with writing prompts and much more.
Each page has the potential to be filled with a story that transcends time, a story that gives a glimpse into life in a particular year or event.
Imagine if we had read personal accounts of the Spanish flu in 1918? Maybe we would have been better prepared for the COVID pandemic in 2020.
Or imagine reading a personal and intimate story written by your parents, grandparents or great-grandparents? Apart from living in their time through their words, you would almost be able to walk a mile in their shoes, having a closer and intimate understanding of the person.
We believe in telling and preserving our stories, especially as Africans. Our view has majorly been moulded and drafted and written from a Western point of view. And of course, this has skewed our understanding of who we are and the path we plan to carve out for our future selves.
But imagine a world in which we had a better understanding of our own history from our own point of view? Just like Chimamanda Adichie said, “the single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.” She also said “show a people as one thing, as only one thing, over and over again and that is what they become”
This is why we made sure that we create notebooks made of the finest materials. Our vegan leather covers and cream coloured paper are designed and crafted to be passed down from generation to generation, with each book representing an important story in history.
Our notebooks are designed with love and care, pass through different hands for quality control and can be customised to give it that added personal touch.
