About Joko Edu
Joko was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. From a young age, Joko had a passion for making bag designs. As a child, she maintained an 80 leaf diary where she made sketches of bags and purses she envisioned. She did most of her schooling in Lagos, Nigeria, and went ahead to study Communications in Minnesota at Gustavus Adolphus College where she earned a Bachelor’s.
She moved back to Nigeria, after working for a while at a Credit Union in Minneapolis. In Lagos, she joined L’Espace LPM helping the brand by managing its Marketing and Communications. After a few years at L’Espace, she moved on to join the team of the first Ermenegildo Zegna outlet in West Africa, located in Lagos. She moved on to become the Assistant Manager at the store before venturing into her own design business.
She began making bags in the alias of JOKO EDU in 2015. Today Joko Edu remains the Chief Creative Officer at JOKO EDU and maintains the exclusive online marketplace where JOKO EDU bags retail. Joko has also participated in many notable Fashion Programme’s in Nigeria and abroad, including programs at London College of Fashion and the Nigerian NEPC (National Education Policy Center) Sponsored Femi Handbag’s programme.
